This is evil brilliance.

Lobsters!

Lab leak is now a mainstream possibility, the Biden admin is pursuing it. This story about how we ignored it almost by accident is really good. It goes without saying that while Cotton said one non-stupid1 thing, he is still a dumbass.

Boris Johnson is dumb, here's the story, but the tweet is the summary.

I'm still upset that Abrams made such a mess of those movies.

This is great, they’re talking about literally pulling carbon out of the air. Also california is planning offshore wind farms! There's even good news out of the fossil fuel sector:

Here's coverage of the chevron one.

Yikes, I don’t like where this Belarus sequence of events is going.

This is an interesting thread if you want what seems to me like a useful framework for understanding boundary pushing in comedy, kicked off by Seth Rogen saying that comedians should accept that sometimes jokes age poorly.
A stopped clock is still right twice a day.
"Lobsters!"
I raise you with shrimp and a fucking spider: https://youtu.be/wpAS3IHkzPc?t=105

You and me both, sister. I think my favorite take so far is how this is a reflection of the misogyny inherent in Hollywood, where a multi-billion dollar property is given to a guy with an okay track record (at least, artistically) with no plan in place. Would they have given this to Patty Jenkins without a full write-up? To her credit, she probably would have demanded it. I'm interested to see her take on Rogue Squadron, though her teaser for the film is, well, kinda weird, being both jingoistic and kinda sorta asking permission from fans to let a girl make a movie with their toys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bLkTjn6Y_s
I'm also waiting for someone to write a book (STOP LOOKING AT ME IT MAKES ME UNCOMFORTABLE) detailing exactly what went wrong here, at least artistically. From the outside it seems like a massive organizational failure by the Disney Corporation, mixed with massive fan momentum that, despite artistic missteps, still dragged the films over the billion dollar box office mark, though steadily declining from over 2 billion for TFA to just over 1 billion 4 years later for TROS.
