Respect that Cheney went down swinging instead of slinking away in retirement like so many other Trump skeptics among her colleagues.
Even if you disagree with Liz Cheney’s policy preferences — and I disagree with most of them — she’s been right about the most important political question of her time. I wish this was true of more Republicans.
"No matter what happens on Aug. 16, I'm going to wake up on Aug. 17 and continue to fight hard to ensure Donald Trump is never anywhere close to the Oval Office ever again." — @Liz_Cheney, July 24 https://t.co/bvb08MDU7P

The costs of making "Where are you from?" taboo exceed the benefits. We need a society where all Americans are accepted as real, full, 100% Americans -- where someone who moved here and got naturalized belongs here just as much as someone whose family has been here 200 years.
CCP folks realize now that they let an infighting-specialist who is incompetent on actual policy seize absolute power, and are frantically looking for ways to walk that back.
rumors already starting, seems to be lots of hope that Xi will be "restrained", perhaps with a "reformer" premier like wang yang, expanded pbsc etc. any sign of Xi being "restrained" would be v bullish for markets, so lots of incentives 4 people to push rumors in that vein https://t.co/xmTGs6qSWE

It’s still not too late for Democrats to divide Republicans and protect rule of law by assailing the right wing fatwa against the FBI and making them vote on, first, defunding the bureau, and, then, resourcing and insulating these critical national security investigations.

Holy shit. I thought there was a misunderstanding, but it appears to be true: NYC's main food distribution point apparently stores large amounts of food in cold storage in STATIONARY DIESEL TRUCKS rather than a refrigerated warehouse??
@StreetsblogNYC @RitchieTorres @MarketUrbanism instead of a refrigerated warehouse (technology from…over a century ago) Hunts Point uses 1,600 polluting, diesel-powered truck refrigeration units to keep produce fresh https://t.co/8YKl4PXqfX

Having a special DEA to enforce drug laws rather than a broad-purpose police agency that faces tradeoffs about priorities seems to create bad bureaucratic incentives where people have their whole life and career and identity invested in hyping up a particular problem.
If you look at the FBI/DEA/ATF/ICE budgets as a whole, ICE is over half the total spending. But if you had a consolidated federal police agency I don’t think people would feel that interior immigration enforcement should consume the majority of its resources.
One of the ways you can prove the US needs to revamp our immigration system - China is absolutely terrified that we might do it
