This thread explains a bit about the award, which is more for a technique than for a specific result. Here's a thread covering how this work impacted other fields, like public health and social scientists. This ability to get more objective results is allowing us to get a real idea which policies work.
While the Nobel was for the methods, it's important to note that their groundbreaking study on the impact of minimum wages had a huge impact on our thinking regarding that specific policy.
But unfortunately, Card is now seen as a partisan, despite the fact that what he brought to the investigation was objectivity.
