The American Seafood Company is being fined $350m by the U.S. government for violating the Jones Act. The reason why? They built a fake 100-foot railway that takes advantage of a loophole in the Jones Act that allows goods shipped on a Canadian railway to be exempt from the Act

What a wasteful mess, if you’re wondering why their loophole failed, it’s because “the railway was not recognized by DOT”. Here’s a video with more info if you’re interested.
