Too bad they don't have some other form of base load power generation they could have been using instead of more low-grade coal.
This is interesting, but unfortunately the higher rates hit apartment construction quite directly, which is a major engine of new affordable homes.
What's interesting about this is that if I understand correctly, China is both the source of a massive portion of the newly installed solar as well as newly installed coal.

Yglesias thinks that the most likely outcome is that we really will breach the limit this time, followed shortly by some form of gimmick and then gets punted to the courts. Anyway, truly defaulting on the debt would be very bad
