Don't forget there's still this other whole other crisis that we're only *almost* done with.
Having land use policy made at a hyper-local level is not an inherent aspect of democracy.
They do it differently in Japan and even in far-off exotic Canada. The YIMBY proposition is we should have a larger state government role in land use.
People know that allowing denser development is good in aggregate, they only oppose it when you give them a chance to oppose it in their back yard. Move it to the state level and you get the outcome you want democratically.
McConnell tried really hard to get his caucus not to talk about their policy agenda but Scott wouldn’t stop talking then either.
