Seems pretty likely that nothing is going to come of this, which is pretty messed up. Serious people call the judge's statement 'remarkable'.

Roman Abramovich is a Russian diplomat/oligarch, the thread has more details. One idea I saw was that Putin is trying to warn other oligarchs not to move against him. By the way, many senior Russian officials, possibly incliding Putin are currently in nuclear bunkers according to flight data.
