Pedestrian fatalities are falling in countries around the world. In the US they're rising.

Well this is absolutely tragic. In my opinion we should be doing more to discourage vehicles that are more likely to kill people.

Canada let in a million immigrants last year. The equivalent for the US would be 9 million. Public opinion of immigration is very positive & broadly supported. How? Canada is selective about who it admits, with eligibility criteria that value higher education & skilled work.

This concept was a core part of Noah Smith's article today arguing that TSMC and Samsung should be building their new fabs in Canada rather than Arizona. Welcoming immigrants, especially high-skilled ones, is a huge boon to Canada's economic prospects.
