In the article they only say that the 'desktop appraisal' is faster, not cheaper. But cost is clearly another advantage, and it's nice to see cost and fairness both point in the same direction.


It's just really hard to fight covid over the long run with non-pharmacutical interventions. You've gotta just get everyone vaccinated, because South Korea was doing everything right, and they still got hit eventually.

It is absolutely crazy-making to me that anyone is acting like the user data is the concerning part. The concerning part is the content selection! I *do not care* where the data is stored. Subtlety is everything when it comes to propaganda, if you want to see the clumsier side of things, like trying to pay Youtubers to run obvious pre-recorded propaganda, you can see why controlling algorithmic video promotion is so much more powerful.
