In the end, the Wall Street Journal got it right. Facebook and Twitter didn't want to be responsible for "influencing an election" but it's not like people didn't hear about it.

According to German newspaper Bild, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was on a flight to Beijing, China today, but the plane turned around midway and flew back to Moscow. The White House announced a call between Xi & Biden today, set for tomorrow.

Holy shit, this sounds terrifying, I really hope they find some way to declare 'victory' and give up soon. Hopefully loss of Chinese support is enough of a shock. Because their conventional strength is definitely falling, they've lost about 1500 vehicles so far.
