What an absolutely insane broken system. Apparently the process for getting cell phone tower equipment went much faster because the FCC wouldn't stand for any of this crap, and steamrolled everyone.
New York got to experience a 'California Autumn'. Worryingly, buildings in NYC are probably a bit older than on the west coast, not sealed as well. Apparently none of the models for damage from climate change take this into account. Bad air quality is a very serious problem, arguably the worst air quality disaster in ever in the US.
One question is whether Russian retaliation against Poland for helping Ukraine would activate NATO's article 5. Probably not? But I'm not exactly an expert.
Recent UFO story in NY Magazine. Same guy who has been making claims about it for a while, just this time he got a magazine write-up, it's still pretty ridiculous.

• Thread summarizing a recent paper about how people think that everyone has gotten meaner during their lifetimes. TL;DR: there's no evidence that's happening, and the whole thing is a bit of a cognative illusion.
