One I'd add: term limits. Ask California pols how that one has worked out

From my time observing the CA state legislature I can definitely say term limits were a mistake.

fun fact: the Brooklyn bridge used to be primarily for transit, and it served more than 2x as many people vs. today
cars are a very inefficient way to move people around in cities, and giving car lanes to bikes, people, and transit will make our transportation more efficient

I previously shared an article that mentioned that dentists make up a huge portion of the top centile of incomes in the US. Maybe there's just so much money sloshing around that it's easy to bring staff back quickly.

A package of new proposed laws for regulating tech companies are in part a negotiating ploy, but also an indicator of change.

This is a bit old, but I haven't seen a better summary of the recent tech regulation bills. Even the one he's in favor of could still have serious unintended downsides.
