So, that’s 1700 miles of rail for 117 billion dollars, so 68 million dollars per mile of rail, (42 million per km). Looks like France spends between 3 and 12 million Euros per km. But for *new* *high speed* track, neither of which apply to Amtrak’s plans for the Northeast corridor. I really don't understand what Amtrak thinks it's doing.
