Global politics doesn’t get much clearer than this: an autocratic regime seeking to topple a democratic republic. If you’re not in complete solidarity w/ the Ukrainian people, incl their efforts to rebuff this invasion w/ NATO’s aid, you too are on the wrong side of history.
Yesterday Russia simply moved troops into the already contested parts of Ukraine. Today the invasion began in ernest. Ukraine's ambassador to the UN had a heavily shared statement.
Map of Russian missile strikes against Ukrainian targets. All military airports are apparently destroyed
Because now we have the internet, there are videos and photos of the military action online immediately.
It can't be reiterated enough that if you vote for a Republican at the state level there is a very good chance they'll use their power to do cruel and inhumane things

In domestic news, this was probably the most talked about item. Pretty authoritarian some would say.
Ukraine’s Interior Ministry confirms that Kyiv is under attack from cruise and ballistic missiles. My God.
If you want it: more media from journalists on the ground.
The threat of using nuclear weapons as Putin made today is yet another escalation. Very rare, after 1945; perhaps JFK in 1962? Mao talked about it a couple of times. But surely nobody for a long time.
So yea, things aren't great.
Actual life hack that makes you and those around you happier: compliment people you know more!
We don't because we worry it will be unappreciated & awkward. But “giving compliments in relationships makes both expressers & recipients feel more positive than they expect to feel.”
"Nine experiments suggest that a reluctance to express genuine compliments partly stems from underestimating the positive impact that compliments will have on recipients."
Visiting a suburb in Sweden. Detached single family homes. Although they look small they are spacious inside because. four or five bedrooms. Small (5ft) front setback means a nice backyard even on a small lot. Narrow (24ft) streets. No good reason to make it illegal in the US
Every day I get more annoyed with the wastefulness of front yards.
