These two charts from @dustinvtran about the size of Google’s AI team relative to any other research team on the planet (including OpenAI & every university) makes the choice to give away the keys to the kingdom even stranger in retrospect. Good for AI advancement, though.

• Thread about how problematic it is that Republicans no longer seem to want to pursue a strategy of winning the popular vote for the presidency. Starts off with the observation that there will be people voting in 2024 who weren't alive the last time Republicans won the popular vote.

• Thread describing how Seattle is going to make big moves towards walkability. They're depaving screets and removing on-street parking! If you want to talk about bad situations: Abu Dhabi owns all of Chicago's parking, and has a contract that says Chicago can't remove parking spaces.

Unfortunately, the Seattle one was an April Fools joke that I totally fell for!
