@Noahpinion Arguably China is simultaneously in the Global North and South due to their institutionalized class-based apartheid "hukou" system.
Depending on where you're from your rights are different. Rural laborers who work in the city live in poverty and lack access to services.

This is the current debt ceiling dance — McCarthy wants Biden to “cut spending” (popular) while Biden wants McCarthy to say which specific cuts he wants (unpopular).
Republicanomics relies on obscuring the details to stay viable.

So much about good urbanism is about abundance and the flourishing of human life. Traditional, walkable cities/towns give people more time, money and better health. Cities concentrate resources and give us innovation, art, culture, architecture, cathedrals and good restaurants.

Putin ranting about Hollywood not making enough movies about Russia as he fucking invaded Ukraine was such a surreal moment. I’m still not over it. This country is such a cultural hyper-power it’s insane and honestly kind of frightening.

Talking to a few friends in healthcare and struck by how much all of the progress from COVID is being unwound. No more telehealth. New software deployments back to taking years. People tasted efficiency and are going back to mediocrity.
Same is happening in tech with WFH.
