'Coders will be out of jobs.'
The most compelling ChatGPT tweets are people with no technical skill doing code-related work. If you make it easier to do specialized thing X, *more* people end up doing it, not fewer (even if the specialized role changes in naming or nature).

The worst people in the state hate land taxes. That's how you know #AB362 is a good idea -- let's get it through committee on Monday!

Jordan Grimes 🚰 @cafedujord
Oakland resident Tom Rubin and a couple other members are now complaining about Assemblymember Alex Lee's legislation to study a land-value tax, which they believe to be unconstitutional.

Also in 2019, I wrote this in BLEEDING OUT: "Curbing illegal gun carrying—hot people, carrying hot (illegal) guns, in hot spots—is crucial. This behavior is perhaps the most important proximate cause of urban homicide today." That's still true today.

Perhaps someday we will solve the “biological intelligence alignment problem” and create human beings who don’t just imitate rational thought while mindlessly craving sugar and simple carbohydrates.

It’s true that this *sounds* crazy but the Republican Study Committee did in fact release a proposal that requires a 49% across the board cut in non-military discretionary spending so… https://t.co/4m9RIMERAA

I think Americans just don't realize how much Russian capabilities have declined since the Soviet days.

Homes are not a nonrenewal resource. It's not a damn commons that needs to be rationed. Build more. A lot more. Make it easier for private developers to build more, push public institutions to build more. And tax the value of the land.

Ben Smoke @bencsmoke
its morally reprehensible for any person to own more than one home when people are sleeping on the streets. its repugnant to use basic need for shelter to extract wealth from others. landlordism is a cancer.
ban multiple property ownership. give the people a chance at a home.

Caveat: I do not think software development costs will fall off a cliff to 0, but I do think productivity in software production will substantially increase from LLMs.

Yep, the Democratic Party is currently more tolerant of moderates than the GOP. That's reflected in the data (self-ID'd moderates voted D by 15 points in the midterms). Progressive left spaces may be intolerant of dissent especially online but they are not the *Democratic Party*.

Noah Smith 🐇🇺🇦 @Noahpinion
Feel like Biden won the 2020 Dem primary by being a moderate, and almost all Dems in Congress are moderates, and non-moderate Dems are pretty consistently marginalized, and Republicans can't even make Marjorie Taylor Greene stop calling for civil war. https://t.co/u77OofXAnB

Because in the 70s we made a grand bargain to calm down the unrest of the 60s by giving everyone in America their space, which required freezing the built environment in place, and now that bargain has become economically untenable.
