It's just sort of weird that the tech community thinks of AI alignment as a defining challenge of our time and yet it is almost completely off-the-radar for the American political community. Like, there's very little in the way of White House policy toward AI, for instance.

Yes, this is correct. The U.S. has a "low-end" strategy of regulatory enforcement -- farming it out to locals and the courts. The "high-end" bureaucratic solution is much better.

@Noahpinion The actual solution here would be to change ADA enforcement from private lawsuits to government agency. If your building is structurally unsound, your tenant may sue, but the primary enforcement mechanism is the city building inspector.
