A year ago banning TitTok in the US would have had massive consumer (kid) backlash because the content was great and unique / now that TitTok, Reels, and Youtube shorts are all basically the same product it is kinda a big *meh* seems far more possible a ban will actually happen.

The right way to deal with ai training copyright controversies would be for congress to broker a compromise between tech companies and artists such as a compulsory licensing regime. But congress is broken so the courts are forced to pick which side gets a raw deal.
