Those claiming only rich people bike are very, very wrong:
"We find that individuals in low-income, car-owning [US] households are associated with up to 14% more walking trips and 33% more cycling trips in a week compared to higher-income households."

The rats are beatable, but not if the law requires us to store trash in building basements and courtyards, and then dump it on sidewalks in plastic bags to be manually picked through by hand and then tossed around by workers – eventually, mostly, making it into a truck

"To reduce the population enough that it wouldn't just bounce back, he said, we'd have to eradicate 96% of all rats in the city...Corrigan thinks it's probably too late." https://t.co/BLCt69Zdhi

Poll after poll after poll shows that renters & POC strongly support adding more housing in their neighborhoods.
This is largely despite the objections of white, conservative, homeowners.

As a Californian, how do you look at a chart like this and not question every land-use policy made over the last 60 years?

We don’t do a centralized assessment of each household’s “refrigerator needs” and then mandate a specific minimum fridge size based on what planners think is needed — people buy bigger or smaller fridges based on preference/space/budget tradeoffs they make on their own.

It just keeps going. Another massive YIMBY win in WA last night. This is more or less the WA equivalent of SB 50, but it passed with a supermajority.

Pro-Ukrainian people joke about Russia blowing up their own pipeline, and pro-Russia people have their wild conspiracy theories about America blowing it up, but really everyone knows that Ukraine blew it up.

This interview with @kevin2kelly was like mainlining the optimism of the 1990s. This is a perspective our nation needs to recover.

A lot of debate right now about this @SvD chart showing #Sweden with the lowest excess mortality in Europe for 2020-22.
Obviously this is causing something of a stir.
So is it a plausible claim?
TLDR - yes, maybe....but it's not quite so simple....

@danielhoughton @anothercohen @iamharaldur I would like to apologize to Halli for my misunderstanding of his situation. It was based on things I was told that were untrue or, in some cases, true, but not meaningful.
He is considering remaining at Twitter.
