Tesla minimized this, but it feels like Investor Day showed ways Tesla can decouple itself from China. Ramping up production in TX/NV/CA/NY/Berlin. Adding a new Gigafactory in Mexico, should have lower labor cost than Shanghai. No rare earths in new motor. Insourcing electronics.

This argument for police defusing has haunted me every since I read it in January, because it’s not like the neighborhoods in question have achieved this through enlightened social democracy they’ve just NIMBYed themselves away from social problems.
