I really don’t want to play this game, but I’ll bite: If homeownership was the only way to build wealth, Romania would’t be among the poorest countries in Europe and Switzerland would’t be among the richest.

We must build on the legacy of putting families first. It starts with safe & secure housing. Instead of affording rent, we must widen our focus to help NYers build wealth through homeownership. Let’s put our energies toward meaningful & sustainable solutions to our housing crisis

Core CPI inflation forecasts for 2022-Q4 from the Survey of Professional Forecasters:
Nov-21: 2.4%
Feb-22: 2.6%
May-22: 3.5%
Aug-22: 4.6%
Nov-22: 5.7%
Actual: 4.1%
Inflation way below recent forecasts, but above what had been expected 9+ months ago.

"some kind of degrowth" oh you mean you want less of the things you think are bad and more of things you think are good just like everyone else except you want to pitch it as a program of austerity to make it sound offputting but virtuous, or in other words "radical"

When Putin proposed his Christmas ceasefire he speaks of "contact line in Ukraine" - ignoring his own previous statements about it being "Russian soil". Hardly anyone in Russia treats recent "referendum results" in occupied Ukraine seriously

This Z Telegram channel admin who recently visited occupied territory is complaining that Russia, despite having annexed Donetsk, is more or less maintaining a hard border crossing. They even still have the border symbols physically in place. It's as if the FSB knows it's a joke. https://t.co/nVOZpFKYb8

I think we can all agree the funniest story of the last three years is all the VCs/tech people becoming inflation hawks because it was a good narrative to pump their crypto bags.
And then the Fed hiked rates and their industry was the first to get vaporized.

I think the rising share of independent self-identification at a time when *in practice* we are clearly seeing fewer swing voters is actually pretty dysfunctional.

One nice thing about having a firm partisan identity IMO is it relieves you of the psychological pressure to make up a rotating list of slanders about the other party’s candidates, you can just admit to yourself that you were never up for grabs.
