The end of poverty is possible.
Each country shown on this chart achieved a large decline in extreme poverty over the last generation.
This is one of the most important lessons we can learn from the available data: rapid progress against poverty can be achieved.
There is opportunism and grifting and clowns and so much more in politics but you really cannot make sense of the major events in national affairs if you donβt appreciate the role of the large number of earnest people who sincerely believe in what they are doing.
