In Oregon and across the country, hedge funds are gobbling up available housing—driving rent and purchase prices through the roof. I’m working to end Wall Street ownership of residential housing. They’re pouring fuel on the fire of our affordable housing crisis.

Pretty wild "Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?" energy here. cbsnews.com/news/earth-mas…
Technologies often start out with seemingly trivial or frivolous uses, such as luxury or recreation, especially since they often start out expensive. As they become commoditized and cheap, they become necessities. Materials are an example:
Great line from on financial crime and the gamification of crypto. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
This is the shit retail workers have to deal with. The Waffle House woman defends herself, its circulated all over the internet and instead of being protected by her employer for being assaulted shes been bounced and blacklisted since shes disposable.

Gen X politics is wild.
These GOP holdouts are doing what the Squad never has the courage to do: use their power to defy party leadership in order to extract concessions. Not sure why it's a source of pride to show how you always submit to Party orders like good soldiers. Not much dignity in that. https://t.co/t7uqZrUPGE

GG to the Squad: You're not punk, and I'm telling everyone.
A lot of what passes for political arguments on here reminds me of how we used to talk about music — who’s a poseur, which bands are real punk, is it cringe to watch MTV blah blah blah

Range is really no longer a purchase factor, especially for people with home chargers. Easy to start the day with 400km /250m range. Most people have easy access to fast chargers (not everyone, but most). As range and charging networks improve, range matters less and less.
Electric car range has been going up by 14% a year. https://t.co/xtFqifDqlt

Wow. Today I saw a "communist" urban planner claim that America's Black neighborhoods came into existence purely voluntarily, without any sort of segregationist pressure. Amazing.
the existence of Black neighborhoods, queer neighborhoods, chinatowns, ktowns, etc is not segregation- the withholding of resources from those communities is segregation. the gentrification of those spaces into sterile capital playgrounds is segregation.
Here's a good follow-up thread:
People are making fun of this tweet, but this is the explicit ideology of the affordable housing proponents that my institute has been fighting for decades and which dominate all affordable housing policy in the Twin Cities https://t.co/sMgDAJjSD9
