Unlike most people on Twitter, I’m actually using GPT3 in a production system. The mistake people are making is they are asking “how can I use this to automate a smart person’s job”, when they should be asking “what would I do if I had unlimited dumb people”

CVS is being sued for asking customers to donate to the American Diabetes Association when they check out. Those donations are in fact *not* sent to the ADA, but instead reimburse the CVS for a legally binding obligation of $10M that CVS promised earlier

“The New York Times requested copies of the documents from Mr. Musk, but did not receive a response”
Musk et al complain about journalism but want media to repeat their claims w/o verification or context. So much for transparency.

One thing that's left unsaid in this article, and the policy announcement it links to, is that you can turn "I have a high score on Stack Overflow" into money. Especially on freelancing clearinghouses, you can point to a high score as a short circuit through a hiring process.

America is losing some of the smartest people on planet earth because of our terrible immigration system.

Foreign workers on H-1B visas have fueled Silicon Valley's growth for decades.
But this year's mass layoffs could force thousands of them to leave the country unless they can find new jobs quickly.
I spoke to many of them about their lives right now.
