In Santa Clara County, the three who definitely will be celebrating Builder's Remedy Day on Feb. 1 are Palo Alto, Cupertino, and unincorporated Santa Clara County.
Let's go shopping for Builder's Remedy locations, just for fun. 🧵

Josh @JalbyMD
If you are an ABAG city and you have not submitted your first Housing Element draft by the end of the day today you CANNOT be compliant by Jan 31st, 2023.

just made a "decentralized" "alternative" to twitter; everyone should go "join" it
to make an account: fork github.com/diracdeltas/tw…
to tweet: git commit --allow-empty
to follow someone: git remote add <alias> <their fork url>
to retweet: git cherry-pick <their "tweet">

day 1: take over company
day 2: fire everyone whose job is to point out when ideas are bad
day 3-6: put out as many bad ideas as possible, like a bad idea machine gun
day 7: oh no where did the money go

Elon Musk @elonmusk
Twitter has had a massive drop in revenue, due to activist groups pressuring advertisers, even though nothing has changed with content moderation and we did everything we could to appease the activists.
Extremely messed up! They’re trying to destroy free speech in America.

The U.S. is suddenly open to making rich nations pay reparations to countries suffering the ravages of climate change — but only if China ponies up, too.

I agree with this thread except to inject one piece of nuance — journalists mostly *aren’t* freaking out.
What’s happening is that overwrought takes coming from a minority of journalists overperform in terms of distribution.

Paul Graham @paulg
Elon taking over Twitter is the perfect storm for mistaken, alarmist news stories. Journalists generally exaggerate any danger they write about. And here the richest man in the world is taking over something they're uncomfortably aware has upstaged their profession.

I think the misinformation that’s done the most electoral damage to Democrats is the stuff that’s been spread by progressives groups to try to win intra-coalition battles.

@Noahpinion Holy shit, from a Canadian perspective those numbers are mindboggling terrible.
Toronto is the 4th largest city in North America and has a homicide rate that is nearly half that of the least violent US city on that list.

Over the last decade I have written many things about how the old blogosphere worked, why Twitter killed it, and why Twitter is immeasurably worse.

I hear this a lot and I'm not gaslighting everyone. Obviously its true that many visible homeless have a drug problem. But! The data doesn't support that drugs are the main cause of the California homelessness, because if they were then the Midwest & South would have more of them

OK then @Kdenkss
@steveerossa Sad thing then is the California YIMBY bros gaslight everyone by pretending its just California prices causing this homeless exodus and not also the ghost of national drug addiction.
