I wrote about transgender adolescents getting top surgery — how frequently it’s really happening, why, and what the risks may be:

When your mortgage financing system sector blows up and leads to a global recession, so you nearly abolish the adjustable rate mortgage just to then lead the largest global hiking cycle in 50 years and screw over every country that kept the adjustable rate mortgage system.
If mortgage rates rise to 6%—as implied by markets’ current expectations for Bank Rate—the average household refinancing a 2yr fixed rate mortgage in the first half of 2023 will see *monthly* repayments jump to £1,490, from £863. Many simply won’t be able to afford this (1/2) https://t.co/hkoZCcSfjJ

One of my monstrous opinions is that people are better off sleeping in small SRO-style dwellings with a door that locks, a roof over their head, and access to a bathroom than sleeping on the street.
“Coal Baron Manchin will never agree to climate action no matter what we do” [Manchin agrees to climate action in exchange for a permitting bill with benefits for his state whose emissions implications are small and ambiguous] “Fuck that guy, we don’t owe him anything!”
I’m still maxing out my tax advantaged retirement accounts like a chump who expects AI alignment to be solved.
An enduring impact is that I no longer make mental or life plans beyond about the next ten years. If something's not worth prioritising over that sort of timescale I largely disregard it. But such things only modestly affect day-to-day activities.

To the ancient Greeks, this would look like Zeus fighting Typhon. Modern humans are what ancient humans imagined gods were.
