Every year we give 50,000 green cards in a random lottery to anyone who applies. This is complete nonsense, bad for the country, and offensive to those who worked hard for theirs.
We should replace the lottery with a point-based system, and give out 100,000 cards with it.

the basic thing keeping putin from using nuclear weapons is that if putin uses nuclear weapons, the world declares war on him, personally. probably someone gets the idea to declare war on his family, too.

This unrelenting desire from certain segments of the “left” to portray slavery as this huge boon to the economy is odd, to say the least.
Slavery was not a good economic model for anyone involved, except for the few who were direct slave owners.

My guess is that China will provide some economic assistance to Russia in order to get cheap oil and gas, and then basically just leave a dysfunctional, unstable, weakened Russia to be a North-Korean style distraction for Europe.

Personally, I’m more inclined to believe the CCP will say “the Russians chose their fate” and behave like vultures on the ashes of a failed empire than actually provide significant support to Putin’s war now.
