Republicans talked themselves into the corner where there’s a zero-sum choice between choosing sane, competent leaders who back insanely unpopular entitlement cuts (Romney, Ryan) and choosing clowns (Trump) because their personal belief is that only a clown wouldn’t cut Medicare.

Also, I don't deny that America has a ton of structural racism, but I do think it says something that the British spent centuries trying to label Indians as untermenschen, and then America just said "Hey folks, how'd you like to come be in charge of capitalism?"
