As @jbarro and I discuss on the episode dropping today (or rather I as say and Josh argues with me), criminal prosecutions for perjury and obstruction of justice in civil cases are stunningly rare, and extremely unlikely even in a high profile case like Alex Jones./1

Note: I disagree with this take. I think it's good to train our smart people to be engineers instead of financiers, on the margin (i.e. where we are right now). But I don't think we know enough to say which company they should be working at.

The worst thing about Facebook is that a non-trivial number of really smart, hard-working people are spending their lives working there when they could be doing something worthwhile with their time. https://t.co/MvuXz8OYiE

When you think about US climate policy, it's important to not just think about directly cutting American emissions but about whether or not we are taking steps that will make it cheaper and easier for poor countries to increase energy consumption without growing emissions.

The deal with Sinema includes a new excise tax on stock buybacks that will bring in more than the $14 billion raised by the carried interest provision, according to a Democrat familiar with the agreement. The deficit reduction figure remains about $300 billion.

Thank you @AARPCA for including my parking-reform bill #AB2097 among priority legislation for your lobby day. The bill will help prioritize housing over cars and is endorsed by @latimes Editorial Board. I hope my colleagues have been receptive! https://t.co/HiyTX5J4H6
