If you read the story, they don’t plan to replace anything close to that number. They want a “chilling effect” that they expect can be achieved by firing and replacing several thousand career civil servants.

@jonathanvswan I was skeptical, and I didn't argue that it takes a genius to fire 50,000 people. It takes a lot of work and attention to *replace* them, however, and Trump and his team didn't have the focus to appoint the available 4,000 people the first time around.

The carried interest loophole is a stain on the tax code. It does not help small businesses, pension funds, other investors in hedge funds or private equity and everyone in the industry knows it. It is an embarrassment and it should end now.
