In Italy, the population is growing much faster than average in the richest region (Lombardy) because people move there for the relatively high pay. It seems very intuitive until you realize it’s not like that at all in the US thanks to deranged local housing politics.

People are always complaining about modern apartment buildings. What they don't realize is that it's our insane development laws that force them into existence in the first place. Legalize housing like that on the left!
