The liberal order is still liberal. Far-right militias under our aegis find themselves under relentless pressure to no longer be far-right.

Matthew Luxmoore @mjluxmoore
Ukraine’s Azov Regiment has worked hard to combat its reputation as a far-right movement. As it trains new fighters for the war with Russia it’s seeking to clean up its image - and avenge comrades killed or captured in the battle for Mariupol. W/ @vmsalama https://t.co/ep3gOifH5n

This definitely seems like an unwarranted overreaction to an admittedly shitty crunch in energy costs — an economy where it’s finally easy for people to find jobs has some tremendous benefits.

Conor Sen @conorsen
I would take the economy of 2022 over any economy since 2001 other than maybe 2017-19, but even there I think the outlook is better now than any time before: https://t.co/ofF1WDtrgI https://t.co/P5rEyaqIQy

Catching up on @Marketplace and dismayed to hear @kairyssdal sharing the cliche story that "we don't have enough research on gun violence bc the govt can't fund it." THIS IS NOT TRUE. This is the CDC lobbying for more $ and you fell into their trap.

I agree that the CDC should be allowed to study #gunviolence but disagree strongly with this headline 1/n https://t.co/mIetNpHUtA

I still think that evolution is real and should be taught to kids in school, which was a big subject of partisan dispute 15 years ago!
(Many people on here have slug-like memories and believe the Overton Window has been shifting steadily rightward when the opposite is true)

I think the idea that only very rich people are bothered by the presence of large numbers of unhoused people in public spaces is not really grounded in facts.

Seems like a lot

CNN @CNN
At least a dozen people were killed and more than 60 injured in at least 10 mass shootings this weekend in the United States. https://t.co/zPCaBs6WZs https://t.co/4w1gwCKFNg

These articles feel so goddamn out of touch.
White lefties need to stop telling people "You don't really care about crime, you just don't like seeing a poor person".
That's not what it is, bro. It's actually crime!

Chesa is getting recalled because there were a million videos of Asian people getting attacked in the streets, and Chesa said some insensitive things about the attacks and went soft on some of the attackers, so a bunch of Asian folks in San Francisco got (justifiably) mad.

Continually screaming "You don't actually care about crime, you just care about this other thing" at people who are legitimately scared of getting beaten in the street is basically just gaslighting.

Back in the 80s before drinking water was invented (circa ~1997) people had to depend on extensive fruit consumption to avoid dehydration.

Timothy B. Lee @binarybits
Per capita grapefruit consumption has fallen by about 80 percent over the last 40 years and I have no idea why. (Oranges are down 27 percent. Peaches and nectarines by 61 percent.)
