But it’s not a coincidence that Gary & St Louis in neighboring states with more permissive gun laws have even more murders — both rules and enforcement of the rules matter.

One thing I don't see talked about much in gun control debates is the reason the "gun nuts" oppose even the most reasonable measures.
In my experience, these folks feel that they have armed themselves for a civil war, and that any restriction is a step toward disarmament.

Like an abusive ex, the only way Putin can keep Ukrainians in his orbit is by brute force. By literally forcing them to be part of Russia. The filtration camps, the deportation into Russia- it's Putin saying you will either join me or I'll fucking kill you.
