One thing that makes the “how much aid should we give to Ukraine?” debate odd is that you’d normally expect to see a fair amount of covert assistance in this kind of situation but Zelensky is such a star that everyone wants to *be seen as* providing help.

For those unfamiliar, "rootless cosmopolitans" is an antisemitic euphemism for Jews that was popularized under Stalin in the Soviet Union. Hitler also slurred Jews as disloyal cosmopolitans in his Mein Kampf. There's exactly one type of person who uses this sort of language.
