As I said in my post last week - watch for cleavages in the world’s Orthodox Christian community. And I’ll be very interested if the Ecumenical Patriarchate ends up stepping up. Especially after they granted Ukraine autocephalous status

Phil Stewart @phildstewart
(Reuters) - Russian Patriarch Kirill's full-throated blessing for Moscow's invasion of Ukraine has splintered the worldwide Orthodox Church and unleashed an internal rebellion that experts say is unprecedented.
Kirill, 75, is a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin

Seven cities have decriminalized psilocybin, as have Oregon, and I read Washington could go next. Key to all this I think is the clinical evidence it’s an effective treatment for depression and PTSD. Having no medical benefit is literally a requirement for Schedule I.

All a question of perspective:
— Housing starts are flat
— Housing starts are way up
— Housing starts have been depressed for over a decade.

I'm just saying that a good alternative to this would be for some other members of the royal family to throw MBS in jail, open the oil spigots, and then live a long and happy life with US support.

Mattathias Schwartz @Schwartzesque
@mattyglesias This is positioning. MBS wants Biden to deliver that Houthi FTO designation.

Wat. SFUSD built its own payroll system? 🤯

Myrna Melgar @myrnamelgar
Also I have to ask, why did they build a custom system instead of an available service like ADP or Paychex? They ended up spending $13 million on it and will be old technology that will need to be replaced in just a few years.

Direct development to neighborhoods with higher home ownership ->
• fewer renters forced out
• development $$ go to the pockets of actual city residents

I think this is an under-appreciated opportunity for restaurants. The first major chain to commit to having chargers at every location will get a lot of new EV buyers going out of their way to stop there and eat while they charge.

Included here is an interesting comment from one of the students at the event, who "described the administration's statement as "lopsided," saying it focused more on how the Chinese students experienced the event rather than what had happened to” the Uyghur student who was booed.

B. Allen-Ebrahimian @BethanyAllenEbr
A group of Chinese international students at Cornell University booed and left an event last week in protest after a Uyghur student spoke about her brother's detention amid the Chinese government's genocide in Xinjiang.

I've gone down the "Golden age of TV enthusiast" to "weird foreign film watcher" pipeline in the past few years, & this reflects my opinions.
(Though if we restrict to only US/Hollywood, maybe a case the best 2000s TV is superior to best 2000s movies)

Nobody believes this but ask long-time charity scold @dylanmatt — Clinton Global Initiative did much more good for the world than anything you or I have ever done.

The key question on the Clinton Foundation is whether it saved lives. The answer is clearly yes.

This is an objectively good thing and I applaud the White House team for making an effort to reach out to people where they are

Libs of Tik Tok @libsoftiktok
The White House told the TikTok influencers who were invited on the zoom call to blame the high gas prices on Putin. https://t.co/qBCEA6r2C7

How badly did Putin screw up? So badly that even Trump can tell he screwed up

David M. Drucker @DavidMDrucker
NEW: TRUMP tells me in an intvw he's “surprised” PUTIN ordered the invasion of Ukraine & further cracked down on freedom inside Russia, explaining he believed the strongman’s threats were a negotiating tactic. https://t.co/2Wowo5eiqq @dcexaminer
