Without agreeing with all of this, I definitely think we should have new regulations on virology research — viruses turn out to be potentially very harmful and it seems like something you’d want to regulate pretty strictly.

The “lab leak debate” has exposed a cadre of policy wonks & scientists whose longstanding agenda is to impose new regulations on virology research. They never cared what the data said & still don’t. Whether or not any of their ideas are reasonable is an entirely separate matter.

If this ends with regime change in Russia, the West should be prepared to be magnanimous and assist *as much as necessary* in economic reconstruction.
