Allegedly, the radiation rate is rising in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. Yesterday, after the heavy fights, Russian troops that arrived from Belarus seized control over the 🇺🇦 Chernobyl nuclear plant & took staff hostage.

You can’t make this up. Taliban issues statement on Russia-Ukraine war. Taliban says they are monitoring situation closely and calls for restraint by both parties. “All parties need to desist from taking positions that could intensify violence”. Taliban calls for dialogue. https://t.co/r2wOFH0sSf

So Germany has had low budget deficits for a long time, which has bought them ~nothing in a crisis while investments in domestic energy supply, insulation, alternative transportation, or military capacity would have been very useful right now.

I am normally not a fan of the Why Not Both GIF, but I sincerely do not understand why the US cannot simultaneously ramp up domestic oil/gas production while also doubling down on heat pumps, induction stoves, EVs, transit, and zero-carbon electricity. https://t.co/8SlyeFVVla

Ben Alpers 🗽 @Ben_Alpers
Bill McKibben is 100% right about this.
And don't fall for (snake) oil salesmen pushing "energy independence" as a solution, by which they mean ramping up domestic oil and gas production.
We need independence from all oil and gas.

Congress should preempt state authority over interregional electricity transmission lines.
As far as I can tell neither Dems nor Republican leaders agree with the NIMBYs who block this stuff but it keeps getting blocked anyway.

The sanction nobody is talking about. Russian users who attempted to visit pornhub were quite literally cockblocked by a message that told them that the content has been stopped along with a Ukranian flag and message of Ukranian support #Ukraine #UkraineRussia #UkraineInvasion https://t.co/XdI75534JW

Footage of Bayraktar TB2 strikes in Ukraine isn't being shared by the Ukrainian MoD on purpose. Such footage is likely to attract a lot of attention, and could lead Russia to intensify its efforts to hunt down the TB2s.
Rest assured, they're active 🇹🇷🇺🇦

@Noahpinion Minor point on the German nuclear power dismantling: IMO the crazier part is the slowdown of renewables. Just adding up WP numbers, there were 34GW of nuclear power at the time of the decision...
Now look at the number of new wind turbines built:

I see versions of this talking point floating around. It has to be trolling. It can't be serious.
Our military is better-trained, better-led, more disciplined, and more lethal than the Russian military, and it's not remotely close.

Matt Walsh @MattWalshBlog
No, the argument is that prioritizing things like "equity and inclusion" in the military has made us weak and ridiculous and given men like Putin the probably correct impression that they can do whatever they want because the west is frail and decadent and dying within https://t.co/QtZNZPZwPo

All these dudes who think that the U.S. military is weak and flabby now because it’s too interested in diversity or inclusion or wokeness should definitely go to a bar in San Clemente or Carlsbad tonight and tell some Marines from Pendleton that they’re a bunch of pussies.
