For years I have heard stories of talented new composers writing 99% of a film score and then landing just an "Additional Music By" credit because the studio hired a big name (that you love) and they outsourced it. Nice to see this dirty laundry aired.
If you're gonna listen to any speech about 🇺🇦, let it be this one. The Kenya ambassador to the UNSC perfectly explains how people across Africa understand Ukraine, and what the Kremlin's acts of aggression mean in our post-colonial world.
politicians trying to put the remote work genie back in the bottle are wasting time they should instead spend adapting to the new reality. Especially ludicrous in NYC, where commutes are among the longest in the country
NEW: Eric Adams is still begging corporations to bring their workers back, but he must acknowledge soon remote work has a future and begin reimagining midtown, as NYC did for downtown after 9/11. My latest, for @CrainsNewYork https://t.co/UORsZyClXY

I think anabolic steroid use may be a generally underdiscussed force in US culture (and beyond?)
The most alarming theory I currently hold is that Putin, like several other rich and powerful men, is a fairly heavy anabolic steroid user https://t.co/908hQxvsZr

France's big nuclear buildout came later than most people seem to think...

Just from a strict Russian nationalist viewpoint, I don’t think backing Russia into being the isolated junior partner in an alliance with China is very smart.
Something we struggle with as a society is how to convey the idea “it is bad that this thing happened” without lapsing into overstatement. It’s genuinely hard! Calling it the fifth-greatest threat or whatever would sound very odd. https://t.co/HVRgQUBox9
“Greatest threat to the security of Europe since World War II”—Blinken just now.

A) Tolkien never said there *weren't* dark-skinned elves and dwarves B) Tolkien did explicitly say his fantasy races weren't to be taken as allegories for real-world races C) We're Americans and we do whatever we want, suck it haters 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
The new Lord of the Rings show should not have black actors as elves/dwarves. Tolkien made Middle Earth as a mythos of English history, and he described in detail what the characters look like. If you want black elves/dwarves, go make your own story. Dont bastardize the original.
