This is fun: The majority of people think that higher interest rates lead to higher inflation, not lower. Got to raise rates to keep those inflation expectations anchored, yup yup. restud.com/wp-content/upl…

Basically the bad scenario now is 3C and the good scenario is 2C.
This interactive chart is good for envisioning the difference between those two. It's a pretty big difference.

I don’t think it was obvious to most people … if it was obvious to most people then why didn’t that obviousness show up in the financial markets?
I know the TIPS spread is not highly predictive, but if you have a way to consistently outforecast it there’s money on the table.

Sam Altman @sama
genuinely curious:
the fed has smart people. how were they so wrong about inflation being transient, when it seemed so obvious to most people that it wasn't going to be?

Is this forecast correct currently?
My confidence in it is low — I would not be that surprised if actual inflation was way higher than this or if we got a recession and undershoot — but I’m pretty reluctant to claim that I can do better.

If you consider that Canada has oceans on both its east and west coasts, perhaps all of this is governed by maritime law.

Meanwhile Pat King is telling truckers the OPS has said they will let truckers leave. He recommends taking their white shirts or underwear off to hold a white flag because the cops "cannot touch you if you are holding a white flag. That is international law." https://t.co/3sbQCxK18W
