The Biden administration should also state a clear criterion for when the air travel mask mandate will go away — with blue states lifting their own mask mandates it’s bad to tell people electing a GOP president is the only way to end this odd outlier.

Python is a bad language to use when building a huge software system or a GUI application. For those reasons, Python will never be my only language.
But it will always be my #2 language until something comes along that is actually better at doing "unix glue" sorts of tasks.

In general, trying to identify a finite number of important things and then just trying to please the customers on the other stuff is underrated.

I said this before, but the fight over gifted programs and magnet schools seems very low stakes (these programs don’t have much of an effect on life outcomes) so it’s better to just side with public opinion on them if you are on the left

TIL French universities charge lower tuition to European than non-European students, but they give Québécois the EU discount.

Something I appreciate about suburban legislators is how they’ll just come out and say that they oppose zoning reforms because they want housing to stay absurdly expensive

Nader J. Sayegh @NaderJSayegh
I oppose the current Accessory Dwelling Unit legislation which mandates local communities allow apartments and stand alone buildings in/adjacent to single family homes. This will damage neighborhoods and hurt property values. https://t.co/5jmXfTcr6M

Paxlovid shine not wearing off (yet) -- now big Q's are supply, allocation, and integration into case management/continuum of care.

Eric Topol @EricTopol
The Paxlovid pill (Nirmatrelvir) randomized, placebo-controlled trial published @NEJM:
89% efficacy vs Covid hospitalizations or deaths, and quick reduction of viral load.
The active pills had less serious adverse events or discontinuations than placebo

If oil companies are colluding to restrain fossil fuel output and raise prices, does the left think that’s bad? https://t.co/FLV0d2j8fQ

Bernie Sanders @SenSanders
Shock. Shock. Shock. Gas prices are at the highest level in 7 years while Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Shell & BP made nearly $25 billion in profits last quarter – the highest level in over 7 years. The problem is not inflation. The problem is corporate greed, collusion & profiteering.
