Since when does China respect U.S. patents???

Dr Ellie Murray, ScD 🇨🇦 @EpiEllie
The main claim here👇🏼 is China’s vaccines don’t work well & it’s presented as China’s fault. But is it really? Or is America controlling who gets the better vaccines?
Reframe: America’s vaccine patent protections are a pandemic that’s already happening.

The Korean left’s presidential candidate apologized for NIMBY policies driving up housing prices and is now pledging to upzone the city to bring prices down!
Just trying to imagine a Bay Area NIMBY politician like @AaronPeskin or @DavidCamposSF doing this lol

I'm amazed that they're going this route. Cawthorn's lawyer: "Congress passed the 1872 Amnesty Act, which removed all persons whatsoever from the disability under Section 3 as a result of engaging in an insurrection or rebellion." https://t.co/IylVYgd6h0 via @TPM

Jamie Dissent@JamesDissent
@joshtpm @scalzi Imagine arguing that a statute enacted in 1872 to grant amnesty to those who took up arms against the country during the Civil War actually applies prospectively, such that anyone who ever goes to war against the U.S. also can run for office later, no problem!

Map of planned high-speed rail vs. map of actual high-speed rail

Eli Dourado @elidourado
The 2009 stimulus put $8 billion into high-speed rail, which hasn’t resulted in any high-speed rail after 13 years.
It costs infinity dollars per mile to build high-speed rail in the US.

2) The Lancet letter made an argument of the form, "There is NO reason to believe X!"
... whereas the global warming petition made an argument of the form "There IS reason to believe X!"
I think scientists are more willing to mislead in the former way than the latter way
