I feel like Iran doesn't pose much of a threat either to the U.S. or to the world
The @NewYorker lays out the enormous threat Iran poses to the US, to the entire world. It seems that at this point, there are only two possible outcomes: Regime change or massive, devastating war within months that can easily become a nuclear war. https://t.co/VapaYcbW29

When I was in college, I had a prof from Iran. I remember him telling us about how excited many of his liberal friends were during the brief period between when the Shah was overthrown and when the Ayatollah took over, and how sadly disappointed his friends wound up.
I thought that this was a good cautionary tale for people who really want radical change. When you upset the apple cart, the apples often do not land where you expect them to.
it never ceases to amaze me how modern free speech discourse is about like getting banned from facebook instead of police intentionally and violently targeting people they disagree with
Good afternoon, the Biden Administration has asked the Supreme Court to rule that federal agents cannot be held accountable for retaliating against protected speech—i.e., what Trump's feds did to protesters in Lafayette Square and Portland, Oregon. https://t.co/1pqMbB7V56 https://t.co/nvgXq0D9Cb

Like, guys, you couldn't even get Democratic primary voters to go for Bernie in 2016, much less 2020, did you really think you were going to make a revolution in this country
At least another *two months* until the FAA completes their Environmental Assessment for Starship's orbital launch attempt. Seems the volume of people commentating has ended up delaying this process, according to the FAA.
The FAA continues its Programmatic Environmental Assessment (PEA) for the proposed @SpaceX Starship/Super Heavy project in Boca Chica, Texas. The new target date for issuing the Final PEA is February 28. Learn more at https://t.co/CZy1jVb5qM. #FAASpace https://t.co/NjNyUsgF4I

Where I’m at with Covid is that reasonable people can disagree as to how much coercion should be used to save lives, but if you are going to coerce people the thing you should coerce them about is vaccination which is very very very effective.

Damn, I've been using doorways wrong all these years

Free idea for : a setting to automatically turn off the self-view unless my face exits the frame. Remove the distraction of looking at myself unless I NEED to look at myself.
