The national debt is one of the few things that's truly a bipartisan responsibility at the moment. Republicans passed the ~$2T tax cuts in 2017, Democrats passed the ~$2T American Rescue Plan this year, and both parties passed initial rona relief.

One thing that occurs to me is that in a country with less nationalized politics and less sorted political parties, you could have vocal — and even influential — cranks without it having the same macro-impact.

“Some Saudis based in Afghanistan and maybe secretly backed by Pakistan attacked America so America invaded Iraq” is going to be a confusing paragraph in the textbooks of the future.

How is being one of a small number of holdouts preventing action on any number of crucial issues less "divisive" than criticizing said prevention?

The Hill @thehill

Delta thread.
I called Delta peak on Aug. 30 which is looking about right.
More importantly, Delta is now dominant strain everywhere. Thus, further variants are likely to be Delta modifications so why isn't there more discussion of Delta boosters???

Trevor Bedford @trvrb

This post is actually quite encouraging. It shows that U.S. military spending is shifting rapidly in the direction of R&D. That's exactly what the military should be spending money on.
If you use the internet, you're benefitting from U.S. military R&D!
