As noted, we find especially convincing evidence that surgical masks are effective. Cloth masks reduce COVID symptoms, but the effect we find on symptomatic infections (confirmed via blood tests) is driven by surgical masks.

if you wanna know how the google nlrb case is going, most of the google lawyer's questions are trying to establish that the workers violated google policy with acts such as "not finding the best reviewer for a code change" or "approving a change without consulting management"

Your random reminder that there was a coup plot against FDR, and that the son and grandson of one of the alleged plotters were both eventually elected President (and the former of those actually did a good job as President)...

I liked @StuartJRitchie's take on the Ariely affair because he focused on a problem with social science that doesn't get enough attention, IMO: the often-shoddy record-keeping

“There's a whole lot of legal, ethical, political reasons we can't do away with public meetings. But fundamentally...public meetings will always attract an unrepresentative group of people with intense preferences. So, we're just kind of screwed.”

I "debated" Rogan on the radio - twice! - years ago because he absolutely believed NASA faked the Moon landings. He's since recanted, but maybe he's not the go-to guy when it comes to reliable info involving conspiracy theories. Or anything. https://t.co/2LI2mY6aJk

Well she dedicated *most* of her life to the cause of gender equality in the law, but then in 2014 she unwisely chose to prioritize her own sense of her historical legacy over that cause. It was bad, and what Justice Breyer is doing now is also bad.

Before blaming Ruth Bader Ginsburg, ask yourself "have I devoted my entire life to advancing the cause of gender equality in the law, as did Ruth Bader Ginsburg?" If the answer is no, try to take your fist and put the ENTIRE thing in your mouth before you say anything. It's fun!
