Four weeks in Real America was a reminder that in most of the country people experience a level of drunk driving risk (both as drunk drivers but also just as people on the road) that feels insane to me, whereas they think I live with a terrifying amount of murder risk.
I feel pretty confident that if you run the numbers, I am right about this and they are wrong but part of society functioning is we kind of let people disagree without turning everything into a knock-down fight.
