The artist’s rendering tells most of the story, but to be more specific: "mounting evidence has convinced the team to recommend taking dire wolves out of the Canis genus entirely and putting them elsewhere in the larger Canid family, which—in addition to wolves and coyotes—includes foxes, jackals, and other doglike carnivores."
Later in the article: "As such, she says, dire wolves may have resembled ‘a giant, reddish coyote.’"


I’m happy Berkeley appears to be moving quickly towards legalizing duplexes in single family areas.

If you haven’t been following, the Chauvin trial is regarding the murder of George Floyd by Derek Chauvin.
Not that you’re necessarily looking to learn more, but this ‘autopsy of a fandom’ video was pretty good.


Not sure if I’ve linked it here previously, but the best way ‘own’ China regarding their actions in Hong Kong would be to grant US citizenship to anyone from Hong Kong who wants it.


So, slight inaccuracy in yesterday’s post, the SpaceX Starship really will only be used as the lander. Based on this Ars Technica article my understanding is that astronauts will get to and from the moon on the much smaller Orion spacecraft on top of a Space Launch System rocket that NASA is legally required to build and use.
